My hair color seemed to fade pretty fast. I’ll be ordering the shampoo it came with cause I really like it so hopefully that will help but I’ll try it a couple of more times before going to something else.. I do however like how it doesn’t bleed when it gets wet.

Put the color on a little over two weeks ago. I ask for the dye not to take to the red as I explained that my hair tends to pull red. Well it pulled a lot of red. Exactly what asked for it not to do. And the color wes darker than I like.

Easy to use but color is darker than I like and didn’t cover the few gray strands I have at the root. May have been user error as I didn’t leave on the full time recommended. Trying adjusted color and will leave on longer, I’ll let you know how the 2nd attempt works.

I thought I was so careful to follow all of the directions and watched all of the videos but I got black/dark brown ends with a nice red-blonde color over the rest. I immediately sent an email asking for help but after no response I have scheduled an expensive repair at a salon. I am a natural strawberry blonde and only started dying my hair last year when I began to see grey's. I picked this product because of it's high reviews but now I am just looking to get a refund to help cover the cost of hair repair at a salon.

Somewhat disappointed in the product! asked to not have a red tint to my color! I have a red tint to my hair! Also, my husband had to use a respirator mask when he helped apply my color! The chemical smell was AWEFUL!! We both have respiratory problems! We also had to open some windows to help get the smell out of our house!!

Decided to do something a little different from just dark brown and choose to try Dark Brown (Intense Pearl). There's NO PURPLE anywhere. Front part of my head is at least the dark brown but the back is a red-ish brown and under in the back is light basically my natural color still. I HAVE A LOT OF HAIR IT'S LONG THICK AND CURLY. I submitted pictures to make sure they knew how much hair I have. 2 bottles although I Was assured would be enough definitely wasn't and I knew it wouldn't be. When doing it at home I used 3-4 boxes of dye and when I had it done in a salon setting was told I used the amount of dye she would use for 3 heads. So now I have to figure out how to even out the color.

I have tried this product 4 times, Everything else is great. The packaging, ease of use, and even the color coverage. However, every single time they have sent me the wrong color. I have requested red/auburn from the very first time. My hair was blonde. If they got it right the first time it would have been perfect. Four tries later, I still ended up with brown hair with a slight red tint. I have determined it's not worth it to keep trying. The last time I even spoke to a colorist and still, it didn't work.

Maybe to color greys this mignt work but for a root touch up to match salon color forget it! Horrible. Just wait until you can get back into your salon.

The colour was good but the roots of my hair were a shade lighter even though I left it on for as long as recommended. The colour for the ends turned my hair nearly black so I wore a hat a lot for a few weeks. They didn't take into account I wanted to keep my lighter ends even though I specified. The only way I could correct it was by spending double to fix their mistake which I wasn't willing to do. I went back to my old colour product.

Although my hair seemed to stay in good condition, my color outcome was not good. My hair, which I noted, tends to go brassy. With the hair color that was sent my hair was orange to brass color. Not a good look. It did not cover up the grey, but at least the grey is not brassy. What a strange color of hair I have right now. Have not been able to find anything to take the brass out. Just have to go with a carrot top for now. 😔. I have sent emails that have not been answered.

This color didn't work on my dark hair - I followed the instructions exactly and even tried another bottle and had my husband do it a second time. Still no results! You can barely see anything. I reached out to customer service, but I haven't heard anything :(

I like the color. First time it lasted months. Second time it's lasted two weeks and the gray is starting to show. I also bought the rinse. I'm not liking the way it makes my hair feel. I thought the color was right until I looked at the order and should of gotten the darker choice. I also bought the eyebrow touch up and again wrong color which is my fault but disappointed.

I had high hopes for this hair color, unfortunately I am so unhappy with my color. I specifically stated when I ordered that I didn't want any brassiness and now I ended up with ginger dark blond hair.... which is fine if that's what you want but it was supposed to be a beige ashy blond to prevent the brassiness. The smell was also horrendous I couldn't be in the shower with the shower curtain closed because I couldn't breathe from the ammonia. Now I need to figure out what will happen if I put regular box dye over this to correct the color. Everyone says to use the purple shampoo but I find it very damaging to my hair and it's way too brassy the purple shampoo will not do enough.

I don't know if it's just me or not but this color, shampoo, and/or conditioner left a waxy feeling on my hair and a weird waxy buildup on my scalp. I've been coloring my own hair for years but this is a first for me. I won't be using this product again.

Good Afternoon- I understand that I was able to notate that I was unhappy with the color from my first order, but when I colored my hair, I was disappointed because my hair looked black rather than dark brown. I followed all of the steps when picking out the personalized color and even washed the color out a few minutes earlier. I felt embarrassed to complain, so I canceled my future orders, but I apparently canceled too late and my order shipped out the next day. I am not sure what to do with the product I currently have, and cannot use being that it is only to color my roots and the rest of my hair has since lightened. Please advise and I thank you for your time.

Hello eSalon, I only rated this color at 3 because I thought that it was going to be more blonde than copper. I should have known that the copper was going to overtake the blonde on my grey/white hair. It is not your fault that now my hair is intense copper all over with hardly any blonde except slightly around the edges. I don't like it. However, everything else was fine and the entire kit was great. Had I picked the right color for me (maybe a solid blonde) I would have been able to give a 5 rating. I was very impressed with the entire kit, with detailed instructions and all items seemed of high quality. Just so you know, I will color my hair again but, I'll definitely be more careful when choosing a color. See you in 8-10 weeks! Thank you.

The kit and process was easy to understand and use. I am 38 with a few grey hairs throughout and the color did not cover the few that I have, it also did not cover evenly from the top to bottom of my hair. I’ve had better luck with store bought hair color.

I had picked the color I wanted a dark auburn with copper highlights. It come out a dark to medium brown with some red highlights....not at all the color I was going for and might have been better off with a boxed product.

I have dark brown hair with highlights and want an all over color. I went med golden brown and it made my hair even darker but also red. Not happy with the results at all.I feel like I would have had better luck with store bought. Now I'll have to go to a salon and spend much more just to color correct.

I was so ready to lighten my roots and cover the grey and was excited at receiving my delivery. The instructions were easy to follow and the supplies (brush, 2 sets of gloves and stain guard) were appreciated but that is where my happiness ends and disappointment begins. The developer smelled just as bad as any drugstore box color (it gave me such a migraine) and it took longer than expected (my own fault for lack of experience). I waited the required time (30min per instructions) and upon rinsing my hair (not as messy as i thought it would be), washing and then styling, my hair felt dried out and the color had me crying (still does). I'm a bright blonde, close to platinum with chocolate tinted lowlights. My roots are now more strawberry blonde and did not blend well with my ends. My roots are still visible, they do not match. It's not what i expected given how eSalon advertises their "custom fit coloring with soft and shiny results". I never was a fan of at home coloring and I remain resolute in my opinion today.

I never write reviews even for a bad experience in the past. I have a previous salon balayage done and wanted to darken by brass blonde while salons are currently closed. I answered the questionnaire and chose a dark brown mahogany option that would work on my current color. I wanted something with less maintenance, get rid of my brass, but still have a pop of color. After uploading a picture of my hair, Esalon instead chose the medium brown mahogany for me instead of dark brown. I called them regarding this as I immediately noticed that this color will still show brass and was lighter than what I was looking for. I was ensured that my color will come out darker and the formula suggested will not make my hair brassier. I decided to proceed, understanding that this formula will be made specifically to tailor my hair color needs. Today I dyed it and it made my hair even more brassier and an ugly copper color. My hair feels fried and extremely dry now when it never even did from bleaching it for my previous balayage. My salon hair looks like an at home nightmare. Before I started doing my hair at salons, I dyed my hair at home for almost 15 years. Now my hair will show in family pics tomorrow for my son’s first birthday party. I’ve never been so disappointed. I have contacted the company and currently waiting on a response for a solution.

The contents arrived damaged. The bottles did not seal & the contents leaked. I still used the product because I was desperate to get my hair done. I was happy with the results, but wonder if they would have been even better if all the product was able to be applied.

Could have been user error? The shipping, packaging, instructions were all great. I tested a couple strands, the first time was orange, so the 2nd time, I left it on longer, and it turned out perfect. I put it on my whole head, and left it the same amount of time, and all the gray turned out orange. The only thing I specified in my order was not to be orange! I’m so disappointed.

I had no idea that i was supposed to safe the applicator brush from my first purchase. The refill was disappointing because it is really difficult to apply without an applicator. I've just gone into your store to try and purchase one and they are all sold out. Con't even find a way to repurchase the original kit with the brush.

Not happy with the color fading so quickly. Even with shampoo for colored hair, no parabans and washing every third day. Color has no staying power. I want to cancel my subscription .

I was expecting a beautiful pearl mahogany and ended up with just a regular dull medium brown and some red roots. I could have achieved this color a lot easier with a box of medium brown from the drugstore. It’s not flattering and isn’t even close to the shade I chose. Very disappointed.

My hair is/was strawberry blond. After using this product, it is now a copper red. NOT the shade I wanted. I have been trying to get a return email from someone to discuss this and have not heard back from anyone. NOT HAPPY.

I have been a blonde for years and always get my color done at a salon. Due to the quarantine, I had to color my own hair. After filling out the style profile and recieving a natural blonde color, my hair is brown and I hate it!!

I was really excited to receive a personalised colour kit, specific to my starting hair shade and desired end result... but, it was such a disappointment! The packaging was lovely, I enjoyed the personalised labels on the bottle, which made it feel that this had been tailored to my requirements exactly. However, despite following the instructions to the letter, the end result was so similar to my original shade that it just isn't noticeable that I've coloured it at all! I had hoped to go several shades lighter, from a mid-brunette to a medium blonde, in reality, I'm now just a more consistent, flat shade of brown. No lovely multi-tonal lightening as promised by the beautiful marketing images, just a pleasant, but monotone brown. I was so ready to love everything about this, but the product has let me down, and I don't think I'll be trying it again.

My hair is the same color as it was before I started maybe a little darker. It was supposed to go lighter. When I was putting it in my hair I could tell that it was going to be darker. This was a waste of my money and I would never use it again.

My roots and the few grays I have did not hold any of the color, went right back to my natural color. My highlights did take but not what I was expecting.

Today I received a reply from customer service and was issued a refund. This is a relief. So I updated my rating from 1 star to 3. You may want to give it a try or not, at least you would receive a refund if you don’t get good results. I would advise though to research on the internet regarding color application specifically for going lighter or darker, because the instructions I received turned out to be a mistake, I don’t think they’re really personalized. My previous review is below.
[I answered the quiz truthfully, I followed the instructions, and what do I get, hot roots! Plus no gray coverage, I only have a few grays. I have colored my own hair in the past using boxed color and never had this issue. Very disappointed. Still no reply from customer service. Honestly, I feel scammed. I would advise to carefully consider if you really want to risk it, because you may be better off with boxed color and it’s less expensive.]

First off- this is actually really moisturizing? My hair feels so soft for the first time in awhile. Unfortunately, my roots are a completely different color than my hair! I followed the instructions completely and was excited for the results. However, I think that the formulation for the root color is different than the end formulation. Additionally, the "gold" blonde I chose looks more brassy than gold. Overall, it's a great price, and a nice product, but the color is so so wrong.
--- EDIT : They sent me a new formulation with less gold and more "medium blonde". And, it's even worse. My hair has never been more orange and brassy in my life. Desperately trying to find a way to fix it. Really really bummed out. Not going to ask for a new one.

I had ordered a darker blonde color and it faded within a couple of days to a strawberry blonde. It's OK and I don't mind the color. Wish it was closer to the color I had originally chose though.

The process was very clear and easy to understand and use. The color match was great, and I was happy with how my hair felt after coloring it. However, after a few washes the color began to fade and I could see a demarcation as to where the gray roots ended - the color on them was fading quickly.

Order was sent April 27 and as of may 14 has not arrived. No response from customer service after multiple emails to ask about my order. When I called customer service, they said the order was likely lost. They refused to expedite a replacement. Will have to wait another 14 days to receive. Not impressed with the customer service - falls well below that of other companies I have ordered from - especially given their business is all online.

I purchased your product two or three times. Each time the product washed out , it did not "grow out". It was not permanent . I always use shampoo and conditioner formulated for colored hair. I have also used permanent hair color before and you can see when it is time to color by your roots. This never happened with this product. It just washed out. It didn't last 2 weeks! I will not purchase again.

Careful application provided no change to the white colour of my roots. I was offered a replacement product a bit darker and the package never arrived. I would like a full refund as the product not only did not work but the shampoo stripped out the colour in the non-root section. I am very unhappy about the whole order.

I refreshed. Review gone. My issue is where do i get the clips refered to and shown in the picture? Secure with clips. i want to get the right clips. My hair is long. I'm just doing my roots. This is my first time without a real salon. My helper is my husband. Tell me where to get the right clips. The clips should have been in the box.

Really disappointed with this adjusted color. It's week two and my gray is completely visible again. It just faded away. I was made to revise my color because it had been a bit since I ordered, so I thought I'd change it slightly. I don't think that was the problem. I don't necessarily think it was the color change; it was the quality.
As you can see, I've ordered many times and never had trouble. This time, it just went away.

All though my hair is short it is very porous and 1 bottle wasnt enough to come to my ends.

The product was great. I love my colour, it was an excellent match. However I still had some greys show up after I was done applying. This could however be my inexperience in doing my own hair.

Easy and looks great—but not the color I was going for

I was completely inexperienced with dyeing hair prior to this. I appreciated the easy instructions and organized package everything was sent in. Today I colored my hair with my esalon kit! It looks great, but it’s not what I was going for at all. I am a dark blonde wanting to be a natural-looking redhead like the dark blonde golden copper shade. My hair is barely orange at all, unlike the beautiful vibrant copper in the sample photo. It’s like my hair is only slightly darker, reddish blonde.
With all of the customization esalon offers, and even sending in my photo, I was hoping I would get the right formula to achieve that hair color. Not a bad experience, but I didn’t get what I thought I was paying for.

I colored my hair and followed all instructions. My hair was Dark brown and my roots were a light brown. Once I placed the color it looked black in color, just what i wanted. Unfortunately my roots didn’t get as dark as the rest of my hair. They’re still light brown and the rest of my hair is black. I purchased this kit to match my color throughout and it was very time consuming and I didn’t get the results I was expecting, very disappointed 👎🏼

Not what I wanted but kind of expected

I had reddish/dark blonde hair and have been wanting to lighten it. It didn't turn the blonder shade I wanted and instead made my hair turn orange. I wasn't expecting to be completely blonde, but I was hoping for less orange.
